Who we are

The San Diego County Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous respects your privacy and takes protecting it seriously. This Privacy Policy covers collecting, using, and disclosing information we collect through our website https://oasandiego.org. It also describes your choices regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information.

What personal data do we collect, and why do we collect it?

Log data

The user ID of logged-in users and the username of login attempts are conditionally logged to check for malicious activity and to protect the site from specific kinds of attacks. When logging occurs, examples of conditions include login attempts, log-out requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content, and password updates. This information is retained for 14 days.

Contact forms

We may ask for personal information, such as your:

This data is considered “identifying information,” as it can personally identify you. We only request personal information relevant to providing you with a service and only use it to help provide or improve this service. We do not use this information for marketing purposes. Where do we send your data?

The personal information we collect is stored and processed in the United States or where we or our partners, affiliates, and third-party providers maintain facilities. We only transfer data within jurisdictions subject to data protection laws that reflect our commitment to protecting the privacy of our users.

We only retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide a service or to improve our services in the future. While we retain this data, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. We advise that no electronic transmission or storage method is 100% secure and cannot guarantee absolute data security.

If you request your personal information be deleted, or if your personal information becomes no longer relevant to our operations, we will erase it from our system within a reasonable timeframe.

Controls for do-not-track features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized at this stage. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.

Do California residents have specific privacy rights?

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, please submit your request in writing to us using the contact information provided below.

If you are under 18, reside in California, and have a registered account with Services, you have the right to request the removal of unwanted data that you publicly post on the Services. To request the removal of such data, please contact us using the contact information provided below and include the email address associated with your account and a statement that you reside in California. We will make sure the data is not publicly displayed on the Services, but please be aware that the data may not be completely or comprehensively removed from all our systems (e.g., backups, etc.).

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have submitted a form on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
